Benjamin Shapiro
TekMate SDSU Student Entrepreneur, CEO & Co-Founder
San Diego
Hello everyone and thanks for checking out my page! I'd love to connect with startup founders, domain experts, investors, fellow student entrepreneurs, and others in the startup space. You can check out my LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/bshapiropar/ and I've put some facts below to help get our conversation started.
History: I was born in Heidelberg, Germany to a British opera singer/artist and an American academic. I moved to San Diego when I was 4 but spent every 2-3 months of every summer exploring the world with my family. I'm fortunate to have traveled to 23 unique countries and have spent considerable time in 5 of them. I attended Coronado High School and the Coronado School of the Arts where I practiced acting, singing, and dancing for 4-6 hours every day.
School: SDSU Management - Entrepreneurship Major, Computer Science Minor. Member of the Lavin Entrepreneurship Program, ZIP Launchpad, and VP of Events at the SDSU Entrepreneurship Society
My Business: Last September myself and 3 fellow Lavin entrepreneurs founded TekMate, an intergenerational platform that connects older adults/seniors with tech-savvy college students for technology training & support. Our mission at TekMate is to empower people to live healthier, happier, and more productive lives through technology. We provide 1-1 Remote Support direct-to-consumer, through retirement homes, and senior organizations. Our website is www.wearetekmate.com
My Work: I also work part-time as a Business Development Manager for Endera Motors, an end-to-end electric commercial vehicle and charging network supplier, providing vehicle design and technology. Our website is www.enderamotors.com
My Hobbies: I love to go on backpacking and overlanding trips. I make an effort to do at least one trip every quarter which is an amazing break from my high-paced work/school environment. I also am an avid technologist and I'm always trying out emerging technologies and playing around with hardware.
